Dimraeth Races and Classes
How character creation works
Dimraeth pairs one of 8 races with one of 6 classes to form what Mudtek calls an Archetype — 48 possible combinations in total, each with its own dedicated skill tree. Game Director Phillip explained the design in an official "Character Creation in Dimraeth" post: race and class aren't just cosmetic layers stacked on a shared kit — race sets your base combat identity, and class shapes how you build on top of it.
The example Mudtek gave: a Minotaur will always be a heavy, axe-wielding frontline presence, even if you pick a ranged-leaning class. A Fairy will always fight as a staff-wielding caster, even if you pick the Brawler class. Your race decides your default playstyle — whether you're diving into melee range, kiting at the edge of a fight, or controlling from the back line — before class even enters the picture.
Confirmed races
Two races — Human and Minotaur — were playable in the earliest playtests, and Elf was added as a new race in the Early Access content update, alongside a new class (see below). Beyond the official patch and blog posts, Mudtek developer Shindaru answered the race roster directly in a Steam Community discussion thread: the plan is a mix of conventional and unconventional options — Human, Elf and Dwarf on the conventional side, and Minotaur, Centaur, Golem, Fairy, Troll and Griffon on the unconventional side.
That's 9 named races against a store page that promises 8, and the developer confirmed the mismatch directly: it's an open question whether one of the nine gets cut, or whether Dimraeth ships with all nine at Early Access. Races also get male and female variants plus color customization, per the same thread. Whatever the final count, race sets your base combat identity — a Minotaur plays as a heavy, axe-wielding frontline fighter, and a Fairy plays as a staff-wielding caster, regardless of the class layered on top.
Each race has its own page with what's specifically confirmed for it: Human, Elf, Dwarf, Minotaur, Centaur, Golem, Fairy, Troll, Griffon.
Confirmed classes
- Brawler — a melee-focused class available since the earliest playtests
- Magician (also referred to as Mage) — a spellcasting class available since the earliest playtests
- Shadow — added as a new class in the Early Access content update
The remaining 3 classes haven't been named, so there's nothing to link to yet — a page needs a confirmed name to attach to. In the same discussion thread, Shindaru said the summoner class is the most-requested class outside of what's already been asked about, but declined to confirm any of the next three classes. Community requests floated in that thread — bard, monk, healer/support — are player wishlist items, not confirmed content.
Building your archetype
Each race-class pairing gets a unique skill tree combining race, class and that archetype's own identity — Mudtek describes these as "anchor points" meant to support theorycrafting, with hundreds of possible builds branching out from there. You equip 5 spells at a time from a pool Mudtek says will exceed 300 at launch, so choosing a loadout for the fight in front of you matters more than trying to carry everything.
A ranked tier list of archetypes isn't possible yet — that requires balance data from actual play, which doesn't exist before Early Access on September 14–15, 2026. This page will be updated once that's playable.
