Dimraeth World and Regions
Is Dimraeth open world?
Not in the seamless, one-continuous-map sense. Mudtek's own materials describe Mirkea as a set of distinct regions — Earlwood Village, the Wildwood Forest, and (from Early Access) the Goblin Caves — rather than a single open landmass you walk across uninterrupted. Treat it as a region-based world you explore area by area, not an open-world game in the Skyrim or Elden Ring sense.
Earlwood Village
Earlwood is the first town players reach, introduced by Art Director Vancris Balanon and Game Director Phillip in official devlogs. It sits on a coastal peninsula at the border between the Human Kingdom of Aldoria and the Eternal Forest — home of the elves — and its look draws on real coastal landmarks including the White Cliffs of Dover and Vietnam's Ghềnh Đá Đĩa.
Earlwood is written as a town of outcasts: Minotaurs, Elves, Dwarves and Humans who ended up there by circumstance rather than blood or crown, living by fishing, farming, logging and trade, with architecture built from salvaged shipwreck materials. By the time players arrive, the village is described as gripped by fear, with most quarters sealed off — only the Guild Hall Quarter stays open, serving as both refuge and the village's last line of defense.
Wildwood Forest
The forest surrounding Earlwood isn't ruled by the Elves or the Kingdom of Aldoria — Mudtek describes it as a fractured land of many small domains, each led by a Forest King (ancient nature spirits — Dryads, Treants, and other beings), all nominally bound by the law of Ceres, a nature god whose rules shape everything living beneath the canopy. The Wildwood was expanded as part of the Early Access content update.
Goblin Caves
A new dungeon region added for Early Access, alongside the Wildwood expansion. Mudtek hasn't published detailed content for it yet beyond confirming it exists as one of the two new region additions for the September 2026 launch.
The wider setting
Corruption is spreading across Mirkea under Sylbos, described as the "Last of the Ogre Magi," while the wizard Faustas recruits players to stand against him alongside Mirkea's free peoples. See walkthrough for what's confirmed about the opening story beats.
